What is Unit Guard?
Unit Guard is a door sensor on your storage unit that sends you a text message any time your unit door is opened. It's an extra layer of security so you always know when someone is in your space.
How much does it cost?
Your first month is free. After that, it's $15 per month, billed along with your rent.
How do I opt out?
Just call us at (573) 686-5599 and we'll remove it from your account. There's no fee to opt out, and it doesn't affect your rental.
Will I get a text when I open my own unit?
Yes. You'll get a text every time your door opens, including when you visit. That way, if you ever get a text when you weren't there, you'll know to check on your unit.
Where do the alerts go?
Alerts go to the mobile phone number on your rental account. If your number changes, call us so we can update it and you don't miss an alert.
Does Unit Guard record video or see inside my unit?
No. Unit Guard only detects whether your door is open or closed. There are no cameras or microphones inside your unit.
Do I need to download an app or set anything up?
No. The sensor is already installed on your door, and alerts come as regular text messages. There's nothing for you to install or charge.
Is Unit Guard the same as insurance?
No. Unit Guard alerts you when your door opens, but it does not cover the value of your belongings. For coverage, ask about our Tenant Protection plan.
